My family is filled with meat lovers so they love a good ham. They can’t get enough of Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Hams at Walmart. My dad makes a mean brown sugar ham but I thought I would bring y’all a new and different recipe. The first time I made this recipe, some of my friends didn’t know what to think since it was a peanut butter ham. But once they tasted it, they were easily converted. Peanuts are used in a lot of Asian dishes. So along with that and soy sauce, it has an Asian-inspired taste that you won’t easily forget.
When we were first married, over 10 years ago, my mom gave me my first Paula Deen cookbook and that is where I got this recipe. As a newly married lady, I barely knew how to cook. I relied heavily on recipe books. This was before Pinterest and before I even knew about food blogs! I love looking at Pinterest and food blogs. At the same time, there’s something special about reading a cookbook given to you by someone special.
First, head over to Walmart and pick up a Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Ham. I found mine in the meat department. This size ham is plenty enough for my big family and is even enough for my husband to bring the next day to work as leftovers.
- 1 Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Ham
- 1 cup chicken broth
- ½ cup creamy chicken broth
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- Take the ham out of the package and put into a crockpot.
- Put rest of ingredients into a food processor and blend well.
- Pour on top of ham and cook on low for 4 hours.
This ham is so easy to make! First you take the ham out of the package and put it in your crockpot.
Put the peanut butter, soy sauce, garlic and chicken broth in a food processer and blend well.
Cook on low for about 4 hours. The ham is fully cooked when you buy it. So you are basically just heating it up and marinating it in the sauce.
This would be a fun new recipe to serve at Christmas if you’re going to cook a Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Ham. Actually it’s perfect for any gathering! We have weekly parties at our house. When I need to feed a lot of people, this is an easy go to recipe.
