*I was given free tickets to the fun park but all opinions are my own. This past summer we got the chance to spend a few days in Breckenridge, CO and we had the best time. We stayed at Beaver Run resort, and you can check out this post about how much we loved it and we will stay there again.
Not only was the hotel amazing but the activity park in the heart of Breckenridge was a highlight. If you’re like us, it might be snowy outside but we are already making plans for this summer. Some of our friends came along on our trip and they all had so much fun they want to do it again this summer.
If your thinking about going to Breckenridge this summer you HAVE to check out their fun park. They had stuff for little kids, bigger kids and even adults! The men in our group really wanted to take the Segway tour.
Below I am going to give you a few tips on how to navigate the fun park to have the most fun possible.
1. Get your tickets early!
Like most vacations, you want to sleep in and not be on a tight schedule but take it from me, getting your tickets early is a must! We got to the ticket booth around 10 and the line was insane! We had to wait about an hour and with lots of kids, they got antsy. If I would have known I would have gotten up early and grabbed them before they even woke up
I think you can even buy them online but they don’t have it set up yet since summer is still a few months away. So check this website closer to the date.
2. Start your day early because the weather might change.
If you don’t live in Colorado like we do, you might not know the weather can change very rapidly. The picture below was taken at about 1 pm in the afternoon and as you can see, a storm was rolling in. We got to play at the park for about another hour but most of the activities can not get wet because they could be dangerous like the Alpine slide. My advice would be to get to the park when it opens in case the weather changes. I thought the staff did an excellent job in deciding when to shut down the park. Even though we wanted to stay, we were thankful they were looking out for us.
Also you can check the weather on the day you want to visit and if it seems bad, just try the next day!
3. Get the unlimited pass
There are so many things to do at the activity center. We used to only vacation in Colorado in the winter but after experiencing the park, we would go back during the summer for sure! There is so much to do, you have to start early to get it all in. Here is everything they offer:
Alpine Slide, Scenic chair lift, Gold Runner Coaster, Breck Flyer Zip Line (one for adults and one for kids), Mountain Biking, Guided hiking tours, Segway Tour, 4X4 tours, mini putt putt, Gemstone panning, Mineshaft Maze, Climbing wall, bungee trampoline, bounce house, duck races and ropes course.
It was so much fun hopping around from one thing to the other since we had the unlimited passes.
4. Stay at a hotel that has a free shuttle
We stayed at Beaver Run and it was so nice. We could load up our whole crew and go everywhere together. They gave use the number to the shuttle hotline so anytime we needed to go somewhere or be picked up, the shuttle was at our service. Since we are from Colorado, we know the city pretty well. But this is a nice service if you are not familiar with the town.
And just so you are aware, you can park at the gondola parking lot and get your tickets for the fun park at the ticket center. And you can ride the gondola up and down for free. That was one of my kids favorite parts. We even saw a moose!
5. Enjoying the town is free!
Once your done with the activity park, ride the gondola back down to the town. You can walk to the town easily from the gondola. The kids favorite store is this toy store below. It has every fun toy imaginable, a candy bar and a small play area in the back for smaller kids.
I would also suggest planning your trip around something fun the town has going on. For example we got to hit up the farmer’s market and they also had a music festival going on.
