I was sent free coupons for this recipe. Thanks Jennie-O!
This easy recipe features savory ground turkey served on a bed of tomatillos, onions and peppers. My husband and I are doing the Whole 30 diet right now and this is something we can have and it’s so tasty. This is a healthy recipe without having to sacrifice flavor. When we moved to Denver, I didn’t know how popular green chili is and I can say it seems like the state food!
Since my husband and I are eating healthy, Jennie-O ground turkey is one of your go to meats. It’s such a lean meat that our whole family enjoys. Jennie-O sent me some coupons so I could try out this green chili recipe and it did not disappoint. You have to try it out!
This recipe is from Jennie-O.com.
First get a large pot and brown your turkey.
Next grill your peppers.
Then put them in a covered container. Let stand 10 minutes. Remove and discard skins. Place tomatillos and peppers in food processor and process until smooth. Stir in salt.
In large Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add turkey. Cook turkey as specified on the package. Always cook to well done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Add onion and garlic and cook 5 minutes or until tender. Add cumin and coriander. Stir in tomatillo mixture and broth. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 20 minutes. Stir in cilantro leaves.

I have been meaning to post about my latest health journey for a while now. After having 4 kids, my body was in shambles. So I’ve been seeking out ways to get back, not just to my pre-baby weight, but my overall health. During my last checkup at the OBGYN, my doctor noticed I had uterine fibroids. They are nothing to worry about, because they are just benign growths that even my mother had when she was younger. But the doctor said certain things can make them grow larger and there were a few things I could avoid so they won’t grow and start hurting. One of those things is caffeine.
I am not a huge coffee drinker but I can drink an energy drink with the best of them. I decided it wouldn’t be too hard to give those up. But then she dropped a bomb on me….no chocolate either! Most chocolate has caffeine in it. So if I was really serious about getting heathly, chocolate had to go.
So no more sweet tea, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and chocolate cake which are just some of my favorite things. The only thing worse would be if she told me I had celiac disease since I have a serious addiction to bread.
So I quit caffeine drinks cold turkey but my fibroids still seemed to hurt. I had justified that chocolate couldn’t have too much caffeine in it so I was still eating it.
Along comes DNA4Life. They asked me if I wanted to do a review of their service which is a drug sensitivity test that can tell you which drugs you can take that would be helpful or hurtful. I’ve been dealing with some anxiety over the past few months. So I thought this test could tell me what drugs, if I decided to go that route, would be the best.
In this kit are 2 swabs where you swab your cheeks them send them to their lab to do the test. Once the testing is complete, they email you so you can go online to get the results.
I was not prepared for what it would say! I just didn’t realize how valuable this testing would be!
The results are very easy to read. If the drug is in green for your body, it’s good to take, yellow would mean use caution when taking it and red means avoid that drug. The results are very informative.
As I was reading the report, I was shocked to see the antidepressant I took in high school and college was in red! But there were a few drugs that, if I decided I needed to get back on antidepressants, I could bring this report to my doctor and show him the ones that would be safe for me to take. To me that information is invaluable.
So then I noticed the pain medicines. I recently had some major dental work and they gave me pain medicine. I remember telling my mom I didn’t think it was strong enough because I didn’t feel it working. Sure enough that medicine was in the red on this chart! But, thankfully, there are some in green I could use instead.
I didn’t post about the specific drugs I found on my test for one reason…because it’s not that the drugs are bad, it’s just my DNA does not jive with them and of course everyone would be different.
And last but not least, look what I found at the end of the test…
I about fell out of my seat! It wasn’t that I didn’t trust my OB for her recommendations to quit ALL caffeine but seeing this on my test made it clear I must avoid it completely including chocolate.
So DNA4Life has become my new best friend.
To find out more info on DNA4Life or to order a test of your own, go here. The great part is it’s shipped right to your home. You don’t have to go through a doctor to get it. But I would recommend following up with your doctor if your concerned or need to talk about your results. Also they’re going to be rolling out more tests like a wellness and skin test. So check it out.
Amwell is the nation’s largest telehealth company, connecting users with board-certified, licensed doctors, dietitians and psychologists for immediate and live, online visits—day or night, on either mobile or desktop.
I think my favorite thing about this service is Amwell doctors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which means when the weekend rolls around and the kids get sick, which they invetibly do when their regular doctor is closed, Amwell is there! Plus you don’t even need an appointment. We live up in the mountains in Colorado. When I need to go to the doctor, sometimes it can be over an hour away to get to one and this service lets me see a doctor from my house on my iPhone or iPad.
You can also expect a lower price! Most in-office visits cost $82 for first-time patients according to the Healthcare Blue Book, Amwell offers a $49 physician visit – a savings of $33. Plus we have health insurance so I was able to enter my health insurance and the cost of the visit would have been exactly the same as if I would have went to a doctor’s office.
So I tried out the service today and absolutely loved it! My kids have been sick all week. And the one thing that is more stressful than 4 kids being sick is taking the well ones along with the sick ones to a doctor’s office where they might contract another sickness. You don’t know how reassuring and less stressful using Amwell is. And the best part is your first visit is free! Just click this link here and use coupon code: BEWELL15
The doctor we visited today was so sweet and caring and when we were visiting, our video was lost and she immediately called me! She took a real interest in my son who is sick and listened to my concerns and even laughed with us when my son tried to give her a pretend cupcake through the computer.
Another good use for this would have been when we first moved to Colorado, I was 6 months pregnant and had a hard time finding a new provider. This service would have been a great thing to use when I needed to refill my prenatal vitamins.
Your visit with the doctor is secure and HIPAA compliant and the first telehealth service awarded accreditation by The American Telemedicine Association.
Here are some things that can be treated through Amwell:

If you have been following my blog lately, you know I have been trying to loose the baby weight from baby #4. I have lost a total of 75 pounds so far from the day I gave birth so it’s been a success so far, but I still have about 15 to go. I wanted to share with you one of my favorite meals I eat while loosing weight and I always have a box of Success® boil in a bag rice on hand.
If your not trying to loose weight, this is still a great recipe to try but you can just put your favorite dressing on top or this dressing recipe here that is super yummy!
For lunch and dinner I like to have a vegetable, starch and protein and sometimes I throw in a fruit if I am really hungry.
This meal is so easy and quick to throw together and it actually makes 2 servings so what you don’t eat for 1 meal, you can pack up and eat the next day.
All it is, is 1 pouch of Success® Jasmine rice which only takes 8-10 minutes to cook. While you are boiling that, throw some chicken, corn, and honeydew or watermelon in a bowl and some ready make pico de gallo. I like to use a rotierrie chicken since it’s already cooked.
For my “dressing” I just sprinkle some salt and pepper, italian seasoning and a little lime juice all over all the ingredients after I throw the rice in. I love using Success rice when I am trying to loose weight because normally I go for bread when I am hungry but that never works out well on the scale but with Successs® boil in a bag rice, it makes me full without all the calories.
Success® Jasmine Rice is the only boil-in-bag Jasmine rice available. It can be fully cooked rice in 10 minutes and is pre-portioned, BPA-free boil-in-bag means no mess, no measuring involved which is music to this busy mom’s ears! They also have a Basmati Rice flavor which is the only boil-in-bag Basmati rice available so you should try out both flavors.
If you want more ideas on how to use Success® rice, go here for more rice recipes.
I was able to find both kinds of aromatic rice at Walmart. I tried looking at my local supermarket but they didn’t carry it but Walmart did. I was even able to look up the jasmine rice online at Walmart’s website and I could tell which store around me carried it.

It’s been about 3 weeks since my Advocare 24 day challenge. I went up a few pounds to 151 and decided I needed to do the 24 day challenge one more time in order to loose the rest of my baby weight. I have been eating so good these last few weeks but have realized I am not eating enough and my body is in starvation mode so I have lost a little weight but 2 pounds in 3 weeks isn’t cutting it.
I started the 24 day challenge on saturday and started it off by running a 5K. Great idea right?! During these 24 days I plan to actually work out this time because I know the weight will come off faster and I won’t be flabby when all the weight is gone.
I keep hearing how much everyone loves Yoga so I decided to give it a try. I was sent Julie Schoen’s Yoga Sweat and if you think Yoga is just a bunch of funny poses you are wrong! It is a excellent workout! This DVD is great for beginners like me who have either not liked yoga in the past or are just starting to work out.
The main goal over these next 24 days is to of course loose weight but I also want to be able to walk up the stairs without getting out of breath, loose inches, tone up and feel better. i already feel better after doing this yoga and running a little. I love that this DVD targets spots like Legs, Glutes, Arms, Back, And Core because all those spots need some work on me!
I will post back next week on my week 1 weight loss results. I hope to be down to 145. I am going to keep practicing on my Yoga and think it will really aid in my weight loss.
Check back soon for more results! Remember I started at 165 and have lost 15 pounds and counting!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
